 John D. Meyer, author of
OLD PENNY BANKS in 1952, made audio

Uncle John acquires Baby Elephant Mechanical Bank Uncle John acquires Freedman's Mechanical Bank At his 90th birthday party, John is seen in this 1964 photo  handing the 1st piece of cake to his namesake (nephew) John D. Lohse. Per Mr. Lohse, Uncle John would tell stories after Christmas dinner, the two linked from this page are believed to have been tape recorded in 1952 or 1953. Mr. Lohse provided copies of these recordings to Bill Jones so that they could be enjoyed by other collectors. John D. Meyer was 97 when he died on September 1st, 1971. His banks were left to Franklin & Marshall College and later sold to Ed Mosler.   |
