THE J & E. STEVENS FOUNDRY I wish to announce the acquisition of the most important collection of Mechanical Banks that has ever occurred in the history of bank collecting, and which in my opinion will prove to be of the greatest value and desirability, from the standpoint of historical interest, and exhibiting the greatest skills in the bygone art of pattern making and sculpture. This superb collection of bronze patterns from which the iron production banks of the past, represents the genesis and the birth of all banks which were poured from the molds of these patterns, and should prove of inestimable value as an adjunct to any collection. A collection such as this has never been offered, and it may be difficult for collectors to assess their value, but as a dealer and specialist in these items for the past 33 years, it is my considered opinion, that these patterns are of considerably greater value and interest that the iron specimens, and that the future years will amply prove my opinions and predictions to be substantially correct. The patterns are in superb condition with high detail and are fully assembled. A few have been polished and laquered with clear laquer to preserve the luster and prevent erosion. The collection of 27 patterns are offered, subject to prior sale as a unit, and may be seen at my home by appointment, 12 Kenwood Rd. Wethersfield.
